The Central Coast Academy of Sport is excited to announce the support of the Tamworth Regional Council who have granted the 2016-17 ClubsNSW Basketball Program athletes the use of the impressive Tamworth Sports Dome for their upcoming training camp in December.

The ClubsNSW Basketball training camp will be held over four days from 15th -18th December and will involve in-depth training sessions with some of the most qualified coaches in NSW, as well as joint training sessions with the Hunter Academy of Sport and the Northern Inland Academy of Sport and their coaching staff.

The state of the art facilities at the Tamworth Sports Dome that our athletes will be lucky enough to use include 6 multi-purpose courts, which comply with international standards for indoor sport as well as two outdoor courts. The Sports Dome also has treatment rooms for the athletes and offers both physiology and allied health services (Thanks to Peter Annis-Brown and Rural Fit) to our athletes should the need arise. The Sports Dome also caters for parents and spectators with seating for 600 people available at the facility.

When asked about his recent discussion with the Tamworth Regional Council, The CCAS Managing Director and former Head Coach of the Sydney Kings Ian Robilliard said, “I am really pleased with the generous support of the Tamworth Regional Council in allowing our basketball program athletes the use of the Tamworth Sports Dome. The facility is a most impressive one and during my time with the Sydney Kings I learnt first hand how good this regions is in their support of sport. Tamworth Regional Council is aiming to cement Tamworth as a major sporting destination in NSW, the support of this training camp and of both the Hunter and Northern Inland Academies will be another step forward towards achieving this outcome”.

When asked about their support of the Basketball Camp, Tamworth Sports Dome Sports Venue supervisor Amy Biggs said, “Here at the Tamworth Sports Dome we are excited to host the upcoming CCAS Basketball Training Camp. It is a privilege to host the event and to be able to provide a safe and professional training space for these young athletes to develop their skills and build networks with the other academies who will be in attendance”.

The trip will culminate with a small “round robin” of games against the other two academies and will serve as a great learning tool for our athletes as they set there sights on the 2017 ClubsNSW Academy Games in April.
