Callaghan Crowned Champion

THE Central Coast Academy of Sport would like to congratulate 2014 Female CCAS Athlete of the Year, Macy Callaghan on winning the Under 16’s Girls Australian Junior Surfing Titles.

Conditions were good at Cylinder Beach on Stradbroke Island for Macy to rack up over 17 points beating the next competitor by a huge 6 points to gain herself a national title. Macy joins past winners including World Champions Steph Gilmore, Chelsea Hedges, Mick Fanning, Joel Parkinson, Mark Richards, Tom Carroll and Damian Hardman.

Australian Junior Surfing Titles will determine the selection of all positions on the Australian Junior Surf Team for the 2016 ISA World Junior Surfing Championship in the Azores islands of Portugal. The competition will be held at Praia do Monte Verde, Ribeira Grande, São Miguel Island from September 17-24.

Winners of the under 16 boys’ and girls’ individual age divisions also receive a wildcard entry into the seven Subway Pro Junior events sanctioned by the World Surf League (WSL).
