Casey Judge, Assistant Coach for the CCAS Greater Bank Netball Program has been named as a finalist for ‘Young Coach of the Year’ at the Sport NSW 2017 Community Sport Awards.  In a fantastic achievement for the Academy, the 2017 ClubsNSW Academy Games which was hosted by the Central Coast Academy of Sport was also named as a finalist for ‘Community Event of the Year’.

Sport NSW announced the finalists for the 2017 NSW Community Sports Awards after a record number of volunteers were put forward by their sports in recognition of their dedication to community sport.

New South Wales most deserving volunteers will be recognised at an awards ceremony to be hosted by the Hon. Stuart Ayres MP, Minister for Sport, in the Strangers’ Room of NSW Parliament House, at 6.00pm on Thursday 29 June 2017.

This is a well-deserved recognition for Casey who coaches the Wyong Under 14’s Representative Team and has dedicated her time to mentoring and developing young netballers from the young age of 14 years old.

Casey, now 21 years of age said of the recognition, “An opportunity arose to start coaching at club level and a mentor at Wyong encouraged me to coach and said to me I would be good at it. Ever since I started coaching, I’ve loved it.  I love seeing the girls I coach progress in the sport.  It’s a special feeling and I get more out of coaching than I do playing because of that aspect.  I don’t coach for the recognition but it is really nice to be acknowledged like this and it was really exciting to hear that I was named as a finalist for the award.”

Mark Tipple, the Central Coast Academy of Sport Programs and Communications Coordinator said of the nominations; “I’ve been fortunate to have watched Casey at both the squad sessions and at the recently conducted ClubsNSW Academy Games and her coaching with the netball squad is certainly of a very high standard.  I congratulate her on being a finalist in these state-wide awards, I wish her continued success because she is another valued volunteer our organisation is fortunate to be working with”.

Casey is a part of a formidable CCAS Greater Bank Netball coaching staff alongside Head Coach Jess Morgan and Squad Manager Donna Judge, Casey’s Mother.  Following their highly successful ClubsNSW Academy Games campaign, the CCAS Greater Bank Netballers are aiming for more success at the Australian Invitational Youth Games to be held in Maitland July 12 to 14.
