The VIATEK Central Coast Academy of Sport Awards Night was an outstanding event, punctuated by the athletes and coaches that received awards for their efforts and success over the past 12 months.

The event hosted by the Mingara Recreation Club on Wednesday 21st September 2016, was another to cherish. Over four hundred (400) people attended the event and over one hundred and fifty (150) athletes were recognised with Graduation Certificates, Central Coast Council Excellence Awards and prizes throughout the evening. A highlight being the video interviews of athletes’ who summarised the programs and the many highlights that were reflected upon in the video presentations.

Emily Burgess-Moore the Events Manger at the Central Coast Academy of Sport said of the evening; “Our awards night is a major showcasing event for the sports industry on the Coast and like previous years, the awards have been really well received. We introduced a new Central Coast Council Excellence Certificate this year due to the councils merging and these certificates along with twelve other major awards make the night extremely special. The fact that the University of Newcastle contributes to scholarships with a monetary value of $5,000 is also really significant. Our award winners are all very deserving and I congratulate the Athletes of the Year award winners and the Encouragement award winners for their success.”

Mark Holton the Chairman of the Academy said in his opening address ‘beamed’ in from Far North Queensland; “The greatest highlight and the main reason that we are here is to thank our scholarship athletes for their efforts over the course of their respective sports programs. All our athletes continue to represent the Academy and the Central Coast region with distinction and for this, on behalf of the Board and staff, we say a very big thank you to each and every one of you.”
