For Peter Cliff or ‘Cliffy’ to most, 2021 marks thirty one years as a PGA of Australia Member and the current Head Coach of Central Coast Academy of Sport Golf program. Peter has an impressive playing background having 35 Pro Am wins, highest placing of 3rd on the NSW PGA Order of Merit, T-12th in the NZ Open an Australasian Order of Merit event, Peter has twice shot 60 in his professional career and has achieved a remarkable 7 holes in one. His success as a Professional Player was based on a very good technical game and his transition to the coaching ranks has been a transition that has benefitted many of his student athletes.

Peter has been associated with Shelly Beach Golf Club since 2004, and during his time at Shelly Beach he has been involved with the CCAS Golf Program both indirectly as a Guest and/or Assistant Coach and directly as the Head Coach. Peter has been involved with the CCAS Golf Program for a remarkable fifteen (15) years. The past seven as the Program head Coach, a position he both enjoys and takes great pride in.

Peter has helped over twenty students into the PGA of Australia membership, athletes who advanced via the PGA Trainee program to full Membership of the Association, Peter had one student on the LPGA Tour, and Peter is regarded as a PGA Trainee Mentor. Peters junior program at Shelly Beach Golf Club was acknowledged as the best in NSW in 2019, a worthy recognition for a person committed to the sport and his students.

This CCAS life membership gives us the opportunity to shine the spot light on Cliffy’s outstanding contribution to the success of the Central Coast Academy of Sport and his active involvement in the golf program for the past 15 years.

Donna Judge

Presented By: Mark Holton

Donna was introduced to the Central Coast Academy of Sport (CCAS) in 2011 when her daughter Casey was selected into the Netball Program. It was clear to Donna very early on that the CCAS delivered great opportunities to our young local athletes.

Donna started with the CCAS as a volunteer in the managers role in 2014 and continues to manage the CCAS Greater Bank Netball squad to this day. Donna sees her managers role as the Coach’s administrative partner, handling the squad’s organisational needs so the Coach can be free to coach.

If we were to list all the roles that Donna has taken on as manager over the years we would be here all night. Her dedication to the team and all squad members is remarkable. Donna brings the girls together to make sure that when they are wearing the CCAS colours they are one team and encourages new friendships across the entire squad.

Donna’s contribution to the Central Coast Academy of Sport has been both incredibly impressive and highly valuable and tonight we rightfully get the chance to shine the spot light on her outstanding contribution to the success of the Netball program over many years, it is a program with a very high reputation of success and that success has been built on Donna’s contribution as a valued volunteer.

Jan’s journey as a volunteer with the Central Coast Academy of Sport dates back to the founding year in 2004, her work alongside Ray Sandell provided the organisation significant hours, probably in excess of sixty hours each week to the operation and function of the fledging organisation.

Jan Mayfield is a keen golfer, her membership at Shelly Beach Golf Club is probably a second interest to her work, support and advocacy of the Central Coast Academy of Sport. The CCAS was extremely grateful when Jan offered her volunteer support to the Golf Program, Jan was keen to help in whatever way the CCAS administration staff of the time required. In her 15+ years of involvement with the Academy Jan has provided untiring support, she always found time to support the CCAS, our athletes, coaches and key industry stakeholders.

Steve McWhirter was targeted to join the CCAS as a founding director due to his impressive and unparalleled career in the IT sector.  The CCAS was extremely mindful in the early years of establishing a robust, state of the art IT system that would lead the way in terms of technology and innovation.  Steve was the perfect fit to help establish and then maintain this strategy, as a senior executive with IBM, Hewlett-Packard, Salesforce and Check Point Security the CCAS could not find a better person to lead the Information Technology platform set up for the organisation.  Steve has overseen the installation of Salesforce as the organisations CRM platform, more recently Check Point Security was installed to keep the IT system more than current, all attributable to the expertise of Steve McWhirter.  As a high-level rugby union player and a keen advocate of supporting our youth Steve has been a founding Director.  In his 15+ years of involvement Steve has provided outstanding support often when travelling around Asia he always found time to support the CCAS, our athletes, coaches and key industry stakeholders.

When the Central Coast Academy of Sport was just an idea it was essential to attract people like Mike Rabbitt , Mike was targeted to provide his knowledge of sport and media and was an important founding Director.  Mike’s involvement is not just in the media, Mike has been fully invested in the commercial acquisition program, as an event emcee many many times, as a public advocate of the organisation, an expert in the media and PR space, his involvement has been staggering since day one.  The very first commercial contract signed was with NBN Television in November 2003, our 15+ years partnership with NBN was established on the work of Mike Rabbitt and the respect he holds in the industry.  Mike was the face of NBN Television for close to 30 years, in that time he gained incredible respect as a popular and talented sports presenter and likable ‘larrikan’.  With any new business the ability to establish a ‘brand’ is paramount to an organisation’s success, the CCAS has been extremely fortunate to have Mike driving the media, PR strategy and digital engagement.  In 2013 Mike was deservedly awarded an Order of Australian Medal (OAM) in recognition of his outstanding service to the community.
