The Central Coast Academy of Sport (CCAS) hosted an exciting two-day athletics work shop over the weekend at Mingara Recreation Club, bringing together talented athletes from both the Central Coast and Hunter Academies of Sport (HAS). The 2 day workshop was designed to provide a mix of technical training, education, and personal development, ensuring athletes left with new skills and fresh motivation.

Saturday began with track and field sessions led by our coaching team, focusing on technique and performance. Athletes then shifted gears to learn about nutrition and hydration with Hannah from Nutrient Nation, gaining practical tips for fuelling their bodies for peak performance.

The day continued with media training delivered by Adam Murray from NBN, helping athletes develop confidence in front of the camera and understand the importance of communication in sport. Recovery was also a priority, with stretching and pool recovery sessions guided by Mick from Coast Sport to keep athletes in top condition.

Sunday opened with a breathing and relaxation session led by Leigh-Ann from Coast Sport, teaching athletes techniques to manage stress and improve focus. More track and field work followed, reinforcing skills learned on day one.

The highlight of the day was hearing from guest speakers Connor Bond and Michel Hemmings Jones, who shared their inspiring journeys and offered advice on resilience and goal-setting. The camp wrapped up with a fun and competitive Teams Challenge Australia, promoting teamwork and camaraderie among athletes.

A huge thank you to the dedicated coaches who made this weekend possible:
Steve Perry, Ramona Casey, Michel Hemmings Jones, Connor Bond, Matt Horsnell, and Tim Eschebach.
