Resumption of Normality – Future Programs Open!

With all of the issues that we are currently facing, CCAS has kept the ball rolling in providing as much as we can to current programs by way of online education. A variety of topics will be rolled out to the sports groups in the coming weeks – Sports Psychology was sent out yesterday, a topic that is relevant for not only sports, but to help through this uncertain time. There are programs that have been in the planning for the last twelve months – now open and hopefully only need minor changes to opening dates if anything.

The Central Coast Academy of Sport has set a new program structure for the 2020 Mingara One Athletics Program. A first for the CCAS, each discipline will follow its own specialised program, with the best athletics coaches that the Coast has to offer. Our coaching line up credentials includes coaches of Olympic Athletes, World Champion Athletes and NSW Best State Coaches.

The Mingara One Athletics Program will have separate programs for Sprints/Hurdles, Middle Distance, Jumps, Throws and if there is demand for Para Athletes upon nomination. It is recognised that training requirements are different for the disciplines – making sense to run the disciplines as separate programs with specialist coaches in each discipline.

Each athlete will receive a Functional Movement Screening from Coast Sport and a program to address the strengths and weaknesses of the athlete. Athletes can then train in the Mingara One Gymnasium and Facilities. The athletes will have access to education sessions covering Nutrition, Public Speaking and Social Media. Athletes will have testing specific for their event towards the beginning of the program with retesting towards the end to review adaptations. Guest coaches will also form a part of the additions to the program.

The CCAS athletics program has enjoyed over many years the use of the Regional Athletics Track at Mingara. The refurbishment to the track early 2019 has meant another state of the art training facility for the use of the athletes in the program.
