The Central Coast Academy of Sport recently inducted the summer intake of athletes at the group Orientation Event held at Mingara Recreation Club.  In all upwards of one hundred (100) athletes took part representing programs in AFL, Basketball, Golf and Hockey. Soon to follow suit will be Netball, providing another thirty-plus (30+) positions for young men and women from the region.

The event which had a great ‘vibe’ was punctuated by an excited group of athletes’ all looking forward to participating in their chosen sport over the coming summer months.  Each sport is well supported by a committed coaching group and each of the sport programs launched on Tuesday night are endorsed by its State Sporting Organisation, another coup for the CCAS.

Most of the CCAS summer sport programs will conclude their schedule at the 2020 ‘Your Local Club’ Academy Games to be held in the Hunter region in April. The ‘Your Local Club’ Academy Games provides a fantastic platform for athletes to finish their season of training and a great opportunity to put their skills into practice against some of the best young athletes from across the state.

CCAS Sports Programs Manager Robyn Low-Hart said of the orientation event: “The athletes and parents I met with could sense the valuable opportunity provided to them through selection to the Central Coast Academy of Sport. The CCAS  held very competitive trials for all of these sports so it is a credit to each athlete in the room to have been selected. We are really looking forward to seeing all these athletes continue on their sporting pathway.”
