Congratulations to CCAS Male Athlete of the Year (2013-14) Corey Jones for his recent acceptance into the 2nd Greg Norman Academy Junior Invitational, to be hosted at the Barefoot Resort and Golf, North Myrtle, Beach, South Carolina, USA from the 14th to the 17th December 2016.

Corey Jones is a former Central Coast Academy of Sport golfer who was awarded the Male athlete of the year in 2013-14 and he becomes just one of seventy two participants (44 boys and 28 girls) that were lucky enough to be invited to be a part of this amazing tournament. To be invited to the tournament players must be eighteen or younger, be a member of a golf club affiliated to a national golf federation recognized by the global junior golf tour, and for boys have a handicap of 2 or better. Invitees were also determined from winners of the category “I” tournaments for 2016, international ranking systems and national ranking systems.

The format of the tournament will involve both an individual stroke play and an international teams stroke play, which will be held simultaneously, with each completing eighteen holes per day over the three days of the tournament. With the winner being the player/team with the lowest recorded aggregate score over the fifty-four holes.

When asked about the upcoming tournament Corey stated “ I am stoked to be picked to compete in this highly renowned tournament. It will be a great experience for me to travel over to the United States and play on a high quality course in a competition with a massive name of Australian golf like Greg Norman attached to it. I can’t wait meet the other golfers from around the world and see how my skills compare to them”.

We wish Corey the best of luck for this tournament and look forward to hearing about his results.
