The Central Coast Academy of Sport has indirectly been assisted with the important announcement made on the weekend by popular State MP Adam Crouch. The Member for Terrigal recently announced the NSW Government will waive Gosford City Basketball & Sports Stadium’s loan of $451,333.00 under the Sporting Ground Improvement Fund.

Ian Robilliard the Central Coast Academy of Sport Managing Director a person heavily involved in sport for this region praised the announcement: “Basketball has been a founding sport since the organisation first commenced back in 2004. A funding boost like this into grass roots sports will greatly help the ongoing development of Basketball for our region. Adam is a great advocate of not just basketball, but for so many sports for the Central Coast, I take my hat off to him and to the Sports Minister The Hon Stuart Ayres on this ground-breaking announcement for sport. What Adam and Stuart have done really dovetails with the recently released Regional Plan for Sport and Active Recreation and it’s a great example of how sport can benefit with a coordinated approach to sport development between our local association’s and the Government’s commitment to supporting better infrastructure for the Central Coast.”

Adam Crouch the MP for Terrigal said: “Waiving this loan of over $451,333 will help to secure the long-term future of Gosford City Basketball & Sports Stadium. This will allow the stadium to provide opportunities for our community to participate in sport and active recreation for years to come. Having personally made representations to Sport Minister Stuart Ayres over many months, I am thrilled that this loan is being waived, which has only been made possible as a result of the State Liberal Government’s strong financial management.

Gosford City Basketball and Sports Stadium Vice-President Kellie Hassab said the waiving of the loan was significant for all stadium users and the wider community. “We are celebrating our 25th anniversary this year, and what a way to celebrate”, Ms Hassab said. “The waiving of the remainder of the loan will enable us to continue providing a superior community service for participation in sport and active recreation, and holds the association in good stead for an exciting future. We thank Adam Crouch for working tirelessly on our behalf and for always supporting us. Adam is our Club Patron and a great friend of our stadium and community”.
