CONGRATULATIONS to Matthew Kenyon for his recent signing with the Brisbane Bullets in the National Basketball League (NBL). The Brisbane Bullets have a long and proud history in the Australian league and they will re-enter the competition in October as one of eight (8) teams in the elite competition.

Kenyon was a scholarship athlete at the Central Coast Academy of Sport where he was recognised for his basketball talents when he won the Basketball Athlete of the Year award in 2013. Kenyon was a three (3) year scholarship athlete (2010 – 2013) and during those early years his skill set, drive and potential was obvious.

Kenyon has since gone onto to be a member of the AIS at the Basketball Centre of Excellence and was recently chosen to represent Australia with the ‘Emerging Boomers’ in China. It was during the Emerging Boomers China trip and his work ethic at the AIS Centre of Excellence where he caught the eye of the National Coach and Brisbane Bullets Head Coach in Andrej Lemanis, as they say, the rest is history!

Ian Robilliard the CCAS Managing Director who has seen the development of Kenyon over many years said of his signing: “It’s fantastic news to see Matt picked up early in his career by a club like the Bullets. The Bullets are steeped in history and they will re-emerge this year back onto the NBL stage. To now see Matt playing for the Bullets gives us all another reason to closely follow the sport. Matt will do very well at this level, he has an outstanding skill set, he loves the game, and I know first hand how driven he is to achieve his absolute best in the sport. I can’t wish him enough success, he is a quality guy and having seen him grow in the sport he is another step closer to being a regular in the Boomers. As a Central Coast player who has grown up and learnt the sport locally it is simply outstanding news.”

Matt Kenyon said of his signing: “It’s an amazing feeling to be given the opportunity at such a young age, I couldnt think of a better position to be in, with the group of guys I’ll be around everyday, and also playing under the national coach it is a perfect platform to start with to reach my future goals.

With a lot of experienced guys on the team I’m hoping to bring a lot of youth and excitement to the team. I’m just going to come in and do what I always do, work hard and know that I’m going to have to earn everything I get. Hopefully Brisbane can get around the team.”
