JANUARY 2022, the sporting year ahead promises to be an exciting one. The Central Coast Academy of Sport, now entering its eighteenth year of operation is gearing up for what promises to be a huge year.

January marks the start of the 2022 Greater Bank Netball and Netball Umpires program. Athletes will be on court trialling for a sought after position within the squad with an official squad announced in the coming weeks. February will also be a big month with the Beach Volleyball squad getting onto the sand and applications opening for Swimming, Touch Football and Athletics. AFL has already begun its 2022 program and next week we will welcome back the basketball, golf and hockey athletes after a well deserved Christmas break.

The Central Coast Academy of Sport is blessed to have some of the best coaches leading our sport programs. We are looking forward to another year with the following top coaches and managers: Mitch Ede, David Murphy, Scott Reed, Luke LePage, Shannon McKiernan, Kyle Robinson (AFL), Will Granger, Jacinta Govind, John Gunderson, Hammish Loader, Taylah Thomas, Gracie Reed, Ian Robilliard, Nicholas Hassab (Basketball),Mark Bullot (Beach Volleyball), Peter Cliff, Mark Ingrey (Golf), Brett Johnson, Mark McDermott, Michael Tweedie, Roslyn Cheetham, Peter Moore, Tracy Williams, Justin Wicks (Hockey), Jess Morgan, Donna Judge, Jenn Wright, Leanne Kentwell, Cathy Watson, Lee Starkey (Netball), Abby Holloway (Netball Umpires), Graeme Carroll, Brett Doring, Jen Noel(Swimming), Robyn Low-Hart, Sunny Carusi (Triathlon). These are some of the most successful coaches in their chosen fields and the athletes of our region are certainly in good hands.

A highlight for many of the current programs is the Your Local Club Academy Games.  April 8th – April 10th  will see the staging of the multi-sport festival which will be held at multiple venues across the Wagga Wagga region.  Preliminary plans indicate more than 1,500 athletes will converge into Wagga Wagga to contest the games across eight sporting disciplines.  The Your Local Club Academy Games is a key sporting event for the Central Coast athletes and with the challenges this event has faced over the past two years (with Covid 19) CCAS are looking forward to being back on tour.
