The Central Coast Academy of Sport Greater Bank Netball program was launched on Sunday 10th February at Mingara Recreation Club, where the 26 selected athletes were presented with what to expect out of the 2019 Greater Bank Netball Program.
The CCAS Athletes heard from Greater Bank Branch Managers Kath Owens and Kim Rowley who spoke about financial fitness and the work that Greater Bank does in the community and the support they provide to various sporting groups and activations. Brett Doring (Coast Sport Director) ran all the athletes through an activation warm up developed by the Australian Diamonds Netball team before the girls headed into the gym for an intense workout.
After receiving their official Central Coast Academy of Sport uniform pack and having their individual and team photos taken, athletes took part in their first training session for the year at Mingara One Gym.
Head Coach of the CCAS Greater Bank Netball Program, Jessica Morgan said of the opening session: “The 2019 Netball squad were fortunate enough to use the excellent facilities of Mingara One fitness for our first session. The energy was high amongst the group and the intensity lifted as the session went on. Everyone took on the challenge and it was so pleasing as a coach to witness the encouragement and support the girls gave each other. There is lots to look forward to with this group and I can’t wait to get started with their on-court sessions.”
Emily Burgess-Moore, the CCAS Events & Athlete Services Manager said of the orientation and training session: “Jess and all of our presenters did a fantastic job. There was a great energy in the room, with lots of excited athletes ready to get stuck into the 2019 training program. Having Brett there to present and run through the warm up session was a huge privilege for all the athletes’
Two teams will be named from this squad to compete in the upcoming 2019 Your Local Club Academy Games, which is being held in the Newcastle region in April.
