CCAS Stars at 2017 NSW Junior & Youth Athletic Championships

FEBRUARY 2017, The 2017 NSW Junior & Youth Athletic Championships were held at Sydney Olympic Park from the 3rd to the 5th of February. Central Coast Academy of Sport Athletics Squad Members were amongst the medals, putting in some fantastic performances at the illustrious meet.

The Gunn family lived up to their surname with some strong efforts in their respective events. Katie Gunn claimed Gold medals in Girl’s U/15 Long Jump with a Personal Best of 5.38m and Triple Jump with a 10.94m effort. Katie also ran the 200m in 26.7 seconds to claim 5th place. Tyler Gunn made sure his sister wouldn’t be the only one taking Gold home, claiming 1st place in the Men’s U/20 400m with a quick time of 47.77 seconds. Tyler ran a 22.10 second 200m race to claim 5th place also.

Bethany Kranendonk continued her fantastic summer, posting a Season’s Best 11.42m in the U/18 Women’s Triple Jump to claim 2nd place. She backed that up with 5.48m in the U/18 Women’s Long Jump to snatch another Silver, topping off an impressive meet.

Callum Sutton should still be resting his shoulders after a busy Championship meet! Equalling his PB and winning Gold in the U/17 Men’s Discus, Callum threw an impressive 43.78m to take out first place. Callum claimed Silver and a new PB in the Hammer, throwing 41.04m. Callum also claimed 6th place and a new PB in Shot Put throwing 12.76m.

Nathan Graham continued the winning ways by taking out Gold in the Men’s U/16 Javelin with a winning throw of 43.58m. Showing his versatility, Nathan was able to claim Silver in both the 100m and 200m hurdles with times of 14.32 and 27.93 respectively.

Well done on the great results from some of our Track & Field stars, who are representing their clubs and the Central Coast Academy of Sport so well.
