The Central Coast Academy of Sport Greater Bank Netball Program has opened applications for the 2017 Program and the program has undergone significant change from 2016.
The Central Coast Academy of Sport is delighted to announce that Jessica Morgan will now lead the program with her recent appointment as the Head Coach. Morgan is a qualified Physical Education Teacher has been targeted due to her quality coaching and involvement in the sport over recent years. Jessica has been linked to the Academy over many years, as a former athlete and over the past three years in a coaching role. The outgoing Head Coach Gima Crowdy was seeking to pursue Head Coaching opportunities within the new Premier League launched last year through Netball NSW.
In addition to the changes in the Head Coach position other changes have been enacted to align the sport to others Regional Academies with trainings now scheduled for Sundays at the Central Coast Grammar School. The rationale was simple; a move to Sundays ensures less conflict with high performing athletes involved with both the Central Coast Heart Opens and Youth League programs.
Central Coast Academy of Sport Athlete Services and Events Manager Emily Burgess-Moore said “the changes to the Netball Program are designed to ensure opportunities for athletes is streamlined so players don’t have to choose one program over the other. The Academy Program is a feeder program to the Central Coast Heart Youth (U20’s) and by holding the Academy sessions on a Sunday ensures less conflict for those eligible for both programs. It also means the Academy Program will act as a true feeder program into the Heart which is one of the essential reasons the Heart came into being. These factors plus the point Jess Morgan is closely aligned to the Heart will ensure the pathway is seamless as Jess is an Assistant Coach in the Heart Program. Let me say Jess Morgan will be great for the revamped program; the move to Sundays and her passion for the sport will be critical to the on-going success the Academy has enjoyed in this sport. We punch well above our weight and I’ve no doubt that will continue under Jess’s tutelage”
