With restrictions for sport lifting across the state, The Central Coast Academy of Sport (CCAS) is excited to announce that the Greater Bank Netball and Netball Umpires program is now open for nominations.

Off the back of this announcement, the CCAS has also revealed that Jennifer Wright, Netball NSW State and Premier League coach, will join the already well-established coaching team at the Academy.

Jennifer has a plethora of experience from coaching club level netball all the way through to premier league for Eastwood Ryde Hawks and Manly Warringah Sapphires, not only that but she is currently assistant coach at the Swifts Academy and the current U19’s NSW state team head coach.

The skills and experience that Jennifer will bring will add greater depth to the Netball Coaching staff roster for 2022.

Jenn said of her appointment “I am excited to be a part of the Central Coast Academy of Sport Netball program and working with local up and coming talent. Being a part of the Netball NSW State program, leading the netball program at the Central Coast Sports College and working in the Swifts Academy space, provides me with the opportunity to bring those experiences to Central Coast Academy athletes and coaching staff. The netball future is bright on the coast.”

The CCAS provide regional and rural-based athletes aged 10 to 18 the opportunity to access national and international standard training and development programs within their regional bases. It also plays a vital role in the Netball NSW Athlete Pathway by identifying, monitoring, and developing the skills of young netballers. These programs consist of on court skills training, Strength and Conditioning, and athlete education. Close to 100 athletes trial each year for the 24 spots available with the CCAS.

Current Head Coach Jess Morgan said of Jenn’s recruitment “We are really excited to have Jen on board for the 2022 program, her knowledge and expertise in the netball space will be such an asset to the growth and development of the central coast academy of sport netball athletes. I’m really looking forward to working alongside Jen.”

The 2022 CCAS Greater Bank Netball squad will have the opportunity to compete at the Your Local Club Academy Games, held in Wagga Wagga in April 2022 and the Greater Bank Academy Challenge, which is planned for September 2022.

Coinciding with the netball squad, the Umpires are expected to be selected into the umpire’s development squad. As an integral component of the Netball NSW umpire pathway, CCAS will deliver a program that supports talented umpires to access quality education and development opportunities delivered by professional and specialised service providers in a well-managed, monitored, and controlled environment.

Nominations for both the Greater Bank Netball and Netball Umpires programs will close on Sunday, November 24th. To nominate, please visit www.thinksport.com.au/programs/netball
