The Central Coast Academy of Sport is gearing up for an increase in the intake of athletes for the summer sports programs offered between October to April. Final details are currently being agreed and applied to the eligibility criteria for athletes wishing to apply to the Central Coast Academy of Sport Programs.

Sports that will be opening applications in August for the summer intake include: AFL, Basketball, Cycling, Hockey, Golf, Indigenous Talent ID, Surfing and Triathlon. Each sporting program caters for boys and girls of various ages. Athletes looking to apply should ensure they meet the eligibility standards before online applications open.

Most of the CCAS summer sport programs will conclude their schedule at the 2019 ‘Your Local Club’ Academy Games to be held in the Hunter region. The ‘Your Local Club’ Academy Games provides a fantastic platform for athletes to finish their season of training and a great opportunity to put their skills into practice against some of the best young athletes from across the state.

CCAS Sports Programs Manager Mark Tipple said of the summer programs: “The group orientation for our summer sports programs was a huge success last year. Even more sports programs will be included this year as the Academy increases its coverage across a growing number of sports and therefore a growing number of athletes in our region. The CCAS has a proven track record of providing important talent development programs and based on the recent feedback across a multitude of sports we are looking forward to further providing development opportunities for pre-elite athletes of the Central Coast. One of the most important elements of our programs is our coaches who are all highly competent and really challenge our athletes, providing a first-hand experience of what it takes to advance up the athlete pathway and if indeed they have the necessary skills required for advancement.”
