OFFICIAL POSITION STATEMENT REGARDING COVID-19
As the Novel Coronavirus
(COVID-19) continues to develop, the Central Coast Academy of Sport is closely
monitoring information and advice being provided by the relevant Government
authorities including NSW Health and the Office of Sport, with the purpose of
ensuring all activities and practices of Academy athletes and staff meet the
best standards of health and safety.
A State-wide teleconference of the nine independent Regional Academies of Sport
was conducted on 16 March, and a decision has been made by all Academies to
implement specific precautionary restrictions on our athlete development
program activities.
A document outlining the Regional Academies decisions in respect of the cancellation of the 2020 Your local club Academy Games — and the suspension of all program activity involving attendance at training sessions and education seminar — can be accessed using the following link:
The Regional Academies’ decision to suspend program activity has been
taken with a clear focus on ensuring the health and safety of our athletes and
staff and will be reviewed at the end of the Easter school holiday period. Any
opportunity to extend program activity or provide additional content will be
considered at that time.
The Central Coast Academy of Sport will work closely with our program coaches
to endeavour to develop and provide “remote” servicing content for
our athletes — this would include accessing our online Athlete Education
content, fitness and S&C programming for our athletes.
Be sure to contact the CCAS office if you require any further details in regards to this statement.
We appreciate your understanding at this time.
Yours in sport
CCAS Team
